What began as a small family-run hotel has become something much bigger: a living lab for biodiversity and sustainability, where we work to offer a more mindful, welcoming, and connected way of experiencing tourism, in harmony with the local environment.

The History of the Bell Repòs Hotel
The Beginning
Between 1940 and 1950
The history of Bell Repòs began when Mr. Bas, a much-loved figure in the town, returned from a vacation in Paris and realized he wanted something similar to what he had seen there: he wanted to build a hotel in Platja d’Aro. Thus was born what is now one of the town’s oldest hotels, with just 8 rooms.
The hotel’s original entrance was on Riera Street (the street parallel to the current one), since on the other side there was only a large pine forest that stretched all the way to the beach itself.
A small remnant of the past that remains part of the hotel today: the ground-floor rooms still retain the original walls of the Can Cristus farmhouse, reminding us of how Platja d’Aro has changed over the years.
A New Chapter
From 2008 to the Present
In 2008, the opportunity arose to take over the Bell Repòs, and Sonia saw great potential in it.
The hotel needed a complete transformation, and there was a tremendous amount of work ahead, but it also had a rich history, a prime location, and, above all, the opportunity to create something unique.
Little by little, and with a great deal of effort, the Bell Repòs began to change, but always with a clear conviction: that it is possible to run a business and grow without compromising our values or the environment around us.
Today, Bell Repòs is a 38-room hotel that continues to evolve and seek new ways of doing tourism. It is a sustainable and inclusive hotel, closely connected to its surroundings, where we strive to ensure that every decision takes into account much more than mere bottom-line results.
