If you have celiac disease or follow a gluten-free diet, you probably already know that traveling requires extra planning. It’s important to find restaurants that offer gluten-free options, but it’s even more crucial to know that they understand what it means to avoid cross-contamination.
Fortunately, more and more restaurants are adapting to the needs of people with celiac disease, and Platja d’Aro is an excellent destination to enjoy a vacation without having to give up good food.
Here at Hotel Bell Repòs, we’ve put together this brief guide featuring some of the places where you can enjoy a gluten-free lunch or dinner during your stay, in addition to our breakfast.
Start your day with a gluten-free breakfast at the Hotel Bell Repòs
At Bell Repòs, we’ve been working for years to ensure that people with celiac disease can enjoy our buffet with complete peace of mind. That’s why we’re accredited by the Celiac Association of Catalonia and follow specific protocols to minimize the risk of cross-contamination.
Our breakfast includes, among other things:
- Gluten-free bread
- Pastries, subject to availability
- Cold cuts and cheeses
- Fresh fruit
- Yogurt
- Eggs
- Organic and locally sourced products
- Vegetarian and vegan options
Our team is trained to accommodate guests with food intolerances and allergies, so you can start your day with complete peace of mind. We also provide specific small appliances and tableware.

Crêpes du Monde: A 100% Gluten-Free Restaurant
If there’s one place that’s a must-visit for anyone with celiac disease visiting Platja d’Aro, it’s Crêpes du Monde. It’s a completely gluten-free restaurant that specializes in sweet and savory crêpes made with ingredients suitable for people with celiac disease.
The fact that its entire menu is gluten-free offers great peace of mind, especially for those who are more sensitive to cross-contamination. It’s an excellent option for lunch, a snack, or dinner in the center of Platja d’Aro.

Tot Pizza: Gluten-Free Pizza in Platja d’Aro
If you’re in the mood for a good pizza after a day at the beach or on the Camí de Ronda, Tot Pizza is a great choice.
They’re known for their pizzas by the meter, an ideal option for sharing with family or friends. They also offer gluten-free pizzas made with corn flour, which are baked in a separate oven to minimize the risk of cross-contamination. In addition to the pizzas, they have some gluten-free tapas, such as nachos and French fries.
As always, we recommend that when you place your order, you let the staff know that you have celiac disease so they can advise you on the available options and the protocols they follow.

Viena: A Quick and Suitable Option
The Viena chain is also a good option if you’re looking for a quick meal after the beach or if you’re just passing through. It offers a menu specifically for people with celiac disease, featuring sandwiches, side dishes, and other gluten-free options.
According to the chain itself, these products are prepared in a designated, sanitized area to reduce the risk of cross-contamination, always in accordance with its internal protocols.

La Tagliatella: Italian cuisine with gluten-free options
If you’re in the mood for Italian food, La Tagliatella in Platja d’Aro also offers a selection of gluten-free dishes.
Currently, they offer three varieties of gluten-free pizza (four cheeses, ham, and pepperoni), two pasta options (carbonara and four cheeses), pumpkin soup, and gluten-free bread.
According to the restaurant, all gluten-free dishes are prepared in a separate kitchen where no flour is used, to minimize the risk of cross-contamination.
For this same reason, it’s not possible to modify the ingredients in gluten-free dishes, as any change could compromise the food safety protocols they follow.
As always, we recommend that when you place your order, you inform the staff that you have celiac disease so they can advise you on the available options.

Would you like to help us expand this gluten-free guide to Platja d’Aro?
This is a selection of some of the establishments we know and recommend, but Platja d’Aro’s dining scene is constantly evolving.
If you know of any other restaurants that offer a great experience for people with celiac disease, please let us know. We’d love to keep expanding this guide so it’s useful to all travelers visiting the Costa Brava.
