At the Bell Rep\u00f2s Hotel in Platja d’Aro, we are aware of the importance of protecting our environment and preserving our community. For this reason, our business philosophy is centered on our commitment to sustainability.<\/h3>\n

The Bell Rep\u00f2s Hotel<\/strong> <\/a>aims to be a sustainable hotel in every sense: social, environmental, and economic<\/strong>, within our business philosophy centered on sustainability.<\/p>\n

Today, we explain our values, commitments, and actions to become a socially responsible company that respects the environment.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sustainability is the core of our commitment, and for years, we have actively worked to minimize our impact on the environment. In 2022, we established 10 sustainable goals that we have successfully achieved.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Our guiding inspiration comes from the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/a> <\/strong>set out in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.<\/p>\n

From eliminating plastic packaging to promoting eco-friendly alternatives and respecting the individuals we work with, this business philosophy centered on sustainability at the Bell Rep\u00f2s Hotel serves as an example of how tourism can be sustainable and environmentally friendly.<\/p>\n

Concrete Actions for Sustainability in our Sustainable Model at the Bell Rep\u00f2s Hotel<\/h2>\n

Renewable Energy<\/h3>\n

We have installed 52 photovoltaic panels<\/a> <\/strong>that generate approximately a third of the hotel’s energy. This represents a saving of nearly 5.8 tons of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere annually.<\/p>\n

The energy we purchase also comes entirely from renewable sources.<\/p>\n

Recycling and Composting<\/h3>\n

We have committed to proper recycling of all fractions, including training our staff. We collaborate with the Baix Empord\u00e0 Regional Council<\/strong> to compost organic material from our garden.<\/p>\n

Toxicity 0 on Our Walls<\/strong><\/p>\n

We paint the room walls with toxicity 0 paints from the CAPAROL company. With this measure, we ensure clean air in the hotel, making breathing safe for both our customers and employees at the Bell Rep\u00f2s Hotel.<\/p>\n

Reducing Food Waste and Collaboration with Sterna<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the past 3 years, we have collaborated with the “Too Good to Go”<\/strong> app to distribute and utilize any excess food from our breakfast buffet.<\/p>\n

Additionally, at the end of the season, we donate the total amount earned from sales to Sterna<\/strong>, the local naturalist organization<\/strong> that fights for the preservation and conservation of our surroundings.<\/p>\n

Through the “Stop Plastic Pollution”<\/strong> project, we have eliminated the sale of single-use plastic beverages. We provide glass bottles for filling with filtered and fresh water for free, and we also offer reusable water canteens for sale.<\/p>\n

Selection of Local Products and Suppliers<\/h3>\n

We prioritize local businesses in the area whenever possible. We have switched to suppliers like Bugaderia Mar Blanc from Platja d’Aro<\/strong> and Llagosnet from Castell d’Aro<\/strong>, who provide us with eco-friendly Ecolabel cleaning products.<\/p>\n

Sustainable Mobility with Electric Charging Points<\/h3>\n

We promote sustainable mobility with electric charging points for cars and electric bicycles. As a Bed & Bike hotel, we collaborate with the Castell d’Aro Mountain Bike Center and rent bicycles to our guests to encourage sustainable mobility and more eco-friendly transportation.<\/p>\n

Partnerships with Local Suppliers<\/strong><\/h3>\n

We establish collaborations with local suppliers to strengthen the local economy. We also have a KM0 shop<\/strong> at the reception where we sell local products such as jams, olive oil, wine, ceramics, and cork products from the region.<\/p>\n

Energy Efficiency and Water Savings<\/strong><\/h3>\n

We optimize lighting with LED technology<\/strong> and reduce consumption by not illuminating the facade, simultaneously reducing light pollution in the neighborhood.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, we save water through dual-flush toilets and efficient faucet and shower aerators. We have also implemented drip irrigation systems and chosen native plants<\/strong> to reduce water consumption in our garden.<\/p>\n

Equality and Opportunities<\/strong><\/h3>\n

We support gender equality<\/strong> and collaborate with local suppliers and microbusinesses to create opportunities within our community. We practice positive discrimination<\/strong> towards women, who make up 76% of our staff.<\/p>\n

Training and Development<\/h3>\n

We offer language, occupational hazard, and emergency protocol training. We tailor training plans for our team. Additionally, we work on using inclusive language<\/strong> and eliminating gender stereotypes in our communications, as language is fundamental in changing the perception of the sexist culture in which we live.<\/p>\n

We have been recognized as a Socially Responsible Company<\/strong> by the Baix Empord\u00e0 Regional Council and are in the process of obtaining Biosphere certification,<\/strong> <\/a>endorsing our commitment to sustainability. We have also received the Sustainable Travel Label<\/strong> from Booking.com and the Proud Hospitality<\/strong> label for being an inclusive and respectful business.<\/p>\n
